ArRiscO Project Final Seminar

In order to disseminate and discuss the main results of the project, the ArRiscO team organized a seminar on March 13, 2023. The seminar was attended by various stakeholders, including members of the scientific community, members of the National Emergency and Protection Authority, and commanders and firefighters from the different corporations of the Viseu district.

The Arrisco project monitored the controlled burning actions that took place during the last week of January 2023 in the district of Viseu.

The project researcher, Joana V. Barbosa, participated in the "IX International Conference on Forest Fire Research" conference with an oral presentation titled "Effects on Children's Health and Associated Costs: Assessing Long-Term Exposure During 2017 Wildland Fires in Portugal" that took place at Coimbra, Portugal, 2022.

The project researcher, Joana V. Barbosa, participated in the "Air and Water Pollution" conference with an oral presentation titled "Health effects of PM10 exposure during 2017 Wildland Fires in Portugal on Children" in 2022 (online).

The project researcher Joana V. Barbosa participated in the 13th International Conference on Air Quality - Science and Application, that took place at Thessaloniki, Greece, on June 2022, with a poster communication entitled, “A Meta-Analysis on the Role of Exposure to Fire Smoke on Firefighters Lung Function”.

Members of ArRiscO team participated in the scientific meeting “2nd WORKSHOP - Projetos de Investigação Científica e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico no âmbito da Prevenção e Combate a Incêndios Florestais”, that took place online, on April 2022.
Joana V. Barbosa, project researcher presented the work entitle “Meta-analysis of the effect of fire smoke exposure on firefighters’ pulmonary health”.

ArRiscO presented in scientific meeting

Members of ArRiscO team participated in the scientific meeting “1st WORKSHOP - Projetos de Investigação Científica e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico no âmbito da Prevenção e Combate a Incêndios Florestais”, that took place at the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of Unversity of Coimbra, Portugal, on 14th february 2020.
Sofia Sousa, project coordinator presented the project and the preliminary results obtained.

Presentation to the Commanders of the Fire Departments of Viseu District

Sofia Sousa, ArRiscO coordinator, presented the project to the commanders of all the Fire Departments of Viseu District, in a meeting that took place at Santa Comba Dão, Viseu district, on 29th January 2020.
In this meeting, the project coordinator presented in detail the project, with special emphasis on the methodology and on the tasks that will require the volunteer participation of Fire Departments and their firefighters.

ArRiscO present in conference organized by FCT

Invited by the Portuguese National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), ArRiscO team was represented in the scientific meeting "Incêndios Rurais: Melhor gestão baseada em evidência científica".
Pedro Branco, junior researcher, presented the project methodology, evidencing the major developments so far.
That event, organised by FCT, took place at the auditorium of the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), at Algés, Lisbon, Portugal, on 27th november 2019.

Meeting with the scientific consultant

On 4th September 2019, at FEUP (Porto, Portugal), ArRiscO team met with the project scientific consultant, Professor Isabella Annesi-Maeasano, from the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM)

Meeting with the Civil Protection commander of Viseu District

On 27th August 2019, ArRiscO team met with the Civil Protection Commander for Viseu District, to present the objectives and methodology of the project, and to define the strategies to implement ArRiscO project in that district.
